UglyBijoux pieces are composed of intricate and delicate components that require gentle care and treatment. 

In general, wear your jewelry last & remove them first. Perfume, lotions and tanning products may tarnish and affect your jewelry’s radiance over time. 

Below is a few of our recommendations to care for your UglyBijoux based on their specific materials. 

925 Sterling Silver 

Some UglyBijoux pieces are made with 925 sterling silver chains, pendants, and/or clasps. This material is prone to tarnishing overtime, that is completely normal. When needed, soak and brush gently with a soap and water mixture and store your jewelry in an airtight container and place it in a cool, dark, and dry place. 

Our sterling silver pieces are coated in anti-tarnish with a shiny finishing polish. This layer may get worn over time (2 years on average) depending on how much wear it took. We may re-polish your jewelry to give it a new life. Please note that we charge a fee for this service. 

Freshwater Pearls 

Freshwater pearls are delicate natural products. Some of our freshwater pearls pieces are hand strung in pure silk thread to keep their lustre and beauty.

• Store them separately in the velvet pouch it comes in to avoid scratching. They are best kept in a cool, dry place. 
• Wipe them after each wear using a gentle microfibre cloth to remove any excess oils or makeup from your pearls. 
• Avoid wearing your pearls in water to ensure the silk threading remains intact. It’s recommended to remove any jewelry pieces before swimming or showering as the moisture may damage the lustre of your pearls.
• Check the stringing. Some UglyBijoux pearl necklaces are hand strung in silk thread one-by-one using a technique that is considered best to keep your freshwater pearls fresh. The stringing may get worn over time and depending on the frequency of wear, they may need to be restrung (around 24 months). We offer a restringing service on select pieces. Stainless Steel Beads & Chains 

Stainless steel is known for its strength and durability. For general care, make sure to wipe them dry after each wear.
